About Fighting Tiger Family Karate

Our program started in Raleigh, NC in 2003. We started teaching The Shorin-Ryu Karate-do style of karate at several community centers through the Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department. Our program grew really fast and became one of the most successful programs offered through Raleigh Parks and Recreation.  Due to this growth and popularity we were inspired to open our own Dojo – Fighting Tiger Family Karate.  Initially, some parents were only interested in karate for their children, but after witnessing the values and principles taught, they joined as well.  These parents make up a good portion of the adults in our karate program.

Today we are a strong community of families enjoying the many benefits of Traditional Okinawan Karate. If you are considering karate as a way to get in shape for you and your family or if you would like to join our elite black belt club, give us a call!

Our style of karate originated in a village in Okinawa in 1947 by Shoshin Nagamine, O’Sensei. This was one of the original arts of Okinawa and has been very instrumental in the development and growth of karate in the US. Our black belt instructors are certified by The World Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate-Do Association in Okinawa. There are many dojos in the US and abroad teaching the Matsubayashi-Ryu style. We are the only licensed dojo in North Carolina qualified to teach this wonderful style as it was taught by Shoshin Nagamine, O’Sensei.

Come join our Raleigh, NC Karate school! We offer traditional karate (which means we are a self-defense school) for kids and adults, fitness for kids and adults,  and weapons training.
